The ten images record the state of play at the end of each innings and each has advertisements at the top “Be in the swim! Have a Fish Luncheon upstairs” and “Wins every Test! All 3 items gifted to the Museum. Clarence “Clarrie” Grimmett (1891 – 1980) although born in New Zealand, played most of his cricket in Australia. He is thought by many to be one of the finest early spin bowlers, and usually credited as the developer of the flipper. Framed and glazed overall 76 x 87cm. This was Bradman’s first tour of England and saw him establish himself as the pre-eminent batsman of the century. He scored 974 runs in the 5 Test matches (7 innings), with a highest score of 334 and an average of 139.14. Woodfull, the captain finished with a respectable average of 57 .50, Ponsford with 55.00 and Kippax with 54.83. England’s best batsmen of the series were Sutcliffe with 87 .20 and Duleepsinhji with 59.43.
