Description:
A pair of Russian jade spheres, possible Siberian origin, early 20th century; together with a brass mounted wooden bottle opener monogrammed "JH"; the bottle opener 27.5cm long. The spheres were brought with the Heifetz family when they migrated to the United States in 1917. (3 items).
These jade spheres were a gift to Heifetz from his long-time teacher, Leopold Auer. Heifetz carried them as good luck talismans on his challenging emigration route - across Russia by train, then by ship from Japan to San Francisco, and eventually by train to New York.
