Description:
1911 (Feb 18) Allahabad-Naini use of India KEVII ¼a Postal Card tied by a superb strike of the 'FIRST AERIAL POST/[PLANE]/1911/U.P. EXHIBITION ALLAHABAD' cachet in black, 'ALLAHABAD/18FE/11' cds at lower-left, unaddressed with message "With the founders/compliments/W Windham/The only ones done in black" on the reverse. Superb! [The flight was organised for the State Government by Commander Sir Walter Windham. Pradip Jain at page 18 states that strikes in black are "supposed to be experimental" but the message on this card suggests they were done per favour. In any event, examples are rare]
