The cap was awarded on McKenzies Western Australia First Class debut in January 1960.In his third First Class game, played against Frank Worrells touring West Indians, McKenzie earned high praise from Worrell after taking 4 for 41 in the 2nd Innings helping WA secure a 94 runs victory.
