Description:
10/- Slate & Pink, attractively centred and fresh Mint single with the variety "Double Print of Frame Plate", the duplication being clearly visible at the top and upper left. A recent discovery; not present in the Chapman, Nelson, Gray, Baillie, Morgan, Hardy or Royal collections. The only example known.
The most recent sales of comparative "double print" or "kiss print" bi-coloured Kangaroos were recorded in the Arthur Gray Gold Medal Collection sold in New York in February 2007. At that auction, a 2nd Watermark 5/- with "doubly printed frame plate" sold for US$16,000 + comm (=A$24,000 at the time). Four Mint examples are known. A used example, perf.OS (but with a missing perforation) sold for US$13,000 + comm (A$19,500) in the same New York auction.
