ILLUSTRATED ENVELOPES: 1851 'BRITANNIA ENCOURAGES THE INDUSTRY OF THE GLOBE' (Britannia & various Industries) with 'Designed & Engraved by J Valentine, Dundee' on the flap with 1d Stars tied by poor numeral of 'BROMSGROVE/MR12/1851' (b/s) to James Valentine in Dundee (poor b/s), minor soiling & small repaired tear at the base. This is State 1, with imprints of Johnstone & Hunter and Ackermann & Co on the flap. [With the enclosed letter headed "Bromsgrove Licky Worcestershire" & signed "Josiah Banner" who states "I have received your letter and likewise the enveloppes...I am but a poor little nailor boy and I have to work forteen or fifteen hours a day...making nails...I have teached my father to read...and I am teaching my sisters...I was up at the London Bazaar last May selling nails..."]
