A part suite of Russian crystal bowls and stem ware, circa 1900; each piece finely engraved with the crowned double headed eagle, comprising 10 bowls, 6 white wines, 4 red wines and 2 sherry glasses. (22 pieces)
As a child, Heifetz had been invited to perform on several occasions for the Czar's household. Following one such command performance, this set of glassware was presented to Heifetz and his family; they accompanied the family on their migration to the United States in 1917.
The House of Romanov was the second dynasty, after the House of Rurik, to rule over Russia, and reigned from 1613 until the abdication of Czar Nicholas II on March 15, 1917, as a result of the February Revolution.
