1924 (Apr-Sep) First Aerial Circumnavigation of the Globe by members of the United States Army Air Service, Western Leg England-United States commemorative 'ROUND THE WORLD FLIGHT/...' envelope with GB 1½d tied by 'BROUGH RSO/22JY/24/YORKS' cds & USA Harding 2c tied by Los Angeles duplex of JAN10/1925, signed by the pilot "Lowell Smith" & longer endorsement by his co-pilot "Leslie P Arnold". The American Air Mail Catalogue states "Three covers were carried on the Western Leg..." Tom Frommer states this is the only cover signed by both pilots. [The 1925 date appears odd but it is consistent with the AAMC illustration]
