George Hunter Rogers was a cartographer during World War I, enlisting in 1915 and was a Private in the 6th Field Ambulance where he served as a stretcher bearer at Gallipoli. In his civillian life Rogers was artist, writer and historian intermitently, author of many local historical publications including The Port Phillip Settlement and Early History of the Mornington Peninsula.
