Bradman and O’Dowd had corresponded for a number of years and Bradman was clearly very happy to write the foreword, “ ...I just wish there were more Kevin O’Dowds prepared to chronicle the life-blood of cricket. ” At the time of publication, Kevin O’Dowd had been statistician of the Geelong Cricket Association for eleven seasons, having “served his apprenticeship” during nineteen seasons in the same position with the East-Belmont Cricket Club. HASHANTILLAKARATNE’S SRI LANKATEST CAP, dark blue wool with the Sri Lankan lion emblem embroidered to front; Albion label and signed by Tillakaratne inside. Attractively framed. Tillakaratne (born 1967) played in 83 Tests for Sri Lanka between 1989 and 2004, rising to the position of Test captain. He amassed 4,545 Test match runs at an average of 42.87 . He was a key member of the 1996 Cricket World Cup winning team for Sri Lanka and is currently a politician and also involved in many aspects of cricket within the country.
