Contributions from Arthur Jones (28), Johnny Tyldesley (24) and Gilbert Jessop (22) saw them to 121, Armstrong taking 5/27. Australias second innings saw some improvement, Vern Ransford and Syd Gregory both scoring 43 in their total of 151. Hirst and Blythe were again the wicket takers, both ending with figures of 5/58.
