b'44220CLARRIE GRIMMETTS SIGNED CONTRACT FOR THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL TEAM TOUR TO NEW ZEALAND - February to April 1928.The four-page contract, signed by Grimmett and R.A. Oxlade (Chairman of the A.C.B.), William Bull (also of the A.C.B.) and witnessed by three others, inviting Grimmett to join a very strong team which was to play six first-class matches against regional and national New Zealand teams. This tour pre-dated New Zealands first Test Match by nine years. The Australian team included Archie Jackson, Alan Kippax, Bert Oldfield, Bill Ponsford and Bill Woodfull. Grimmett was outstanding. In the first match at Nelson, Grimmett took 7 for 64. He took 7 wickets again at the next match, in Wellington. At the match in Dunedin, Grimmett took 6 for 23 and during the match at Christchurch he took 13 wickets. In Auckland in early March, Grimmett took 7 for 91 and at Wanganui Grimmett took 8 for 30 in the first innings.
