How to Sell

Printable Vendor Receipt

Upon receipt of your material

We will describe and estimate it appropriately. Prices are based on current market value and recent realisations for similar material. We do not accept bids from buyers below 75% of the estimate without consulting the vendor first. Our rate of sales is around 85% of material offered, with average prices realised being a little above estimate. As the vendor you can therefore be assured that the sale of your collection will be carefully executed as well as receiving the best possible exposure in the market-place.

Vendor commission

The vendor commission rate is applied using a sliding scale and is calculated on your consigned items value, larger value items or collections may attract a discount.

GST is payable on the vendor commission. (for example: 19.5% commission + 1.95% GST = 21.45%). These commissions are indicative so please contact us to discuss your individual requirements.

Item Value:

Minimum commission

Per lot is AUD$20; an entry fee of AUD$20 is charged per lot. The charge for describing and photography of suitable items is included in the commission, as is full insurance once your consignment is received. Please note however that we require a minimum consignment value of AUD$500. Special arrangements can be made for large holdings or extensive collections.

We will travel to meet you

If your collection is valuable, otherwise material for auction should be sent via Security Post (within Australia) or via Registered Mail from overseas vendors. Under these arrangements, your material will be automatically covered while in transit and while in our possession under our Vendor Insurance Plan (V.I.P.). Bulky consignments, such as book collections, paintings, etc., can be picked up by our nominated carriers from anywhere in the world. A catalogue, together with a presale report, is sent to all vendors about three weeks prior to auction and reports of sales follow immediately after the sale. Payment is usually made 40 days after auction (or earlier by negotiation.)

We can also assist with valuations for insurance, investment advice, or simply with collecting advice.

Catalogues are generally available four weeks before the Auction, in printed format, and online. Acceptance of material for any given Auction usually ceases eight weeks before the Auction. Please send us your snail mail address if you wish to receive a free introductory printed catalogue.
