145 D CHINA:  1918-24 typed notes by Herman John ASMUS F.R.G.S. (1890-1950), who left Australia on the Oriental Line's S.S."Taiyun" & S.S."Nanking" for China as a representative of British American Tobacco (China) Ltd. His typed experiences on about 22 feet of roll paper, detail his life at sea and some of his years in China (12 pages). An interesting account of the intrusion of Western tobacco merchants into the life of the Chinese.  $150 - $250
