715   Magic Lantern Slides: Polar Scenes, 6 hand-painted glass slides mounted in mahogany frames, each frame stamped with imprint "Horne & Thornwaite/ Opticians/ Newgate St London". Four of the slides depict polar scenes which are captioned on the frames by hand in ink: "First meeting with the ice", "Cape Margaret", "Travelling in a sledge" & "Getting out of the Ice"; the two remaining scenes are European views, one showing Windsor Castle.  (6) $300 - $400
